Read the story
There was once a woman who had been sick for twelve whole years. Twelve years is a very long time to feel unwell. She had gone to doctor after doctor, and she had spent all her money trying to get better. But nothing helped. In fact, she only got worse.
Because of her sickness, people kept away from her. She felt tired, and alone, and forgotten.
Then one day she heard about Jesus. People said that He healed the sick and was kind to everyone. And a little hope began to grow in her heart.
Jesus was walking through town, and a huge crowd was pressing in all around Him. The woman slipped in among them. She did not dare to speak to Him in front of everyone. But she thought to herself, “If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed.”
She came up behind Jesus, reached out her hand and touched the edge of His cloak.
At that very moment, she felt it in her body. She was healed!
Jesus stopped. He turned around and asked, “Who touched My clothes?”
His disciples were puzzled. “Look at this crowd pushing against You,” they said. “How can You ask who touched You?” But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.
The woman knew she could not hide. Trembling, she came and knelt at His feet, and she told Him the whole truth. Jesus looked at her with great kindness and said:
“Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease.”
Mark 5:34
Daughter! Nobody had spoken to her so gently in years. She had come hoping only to be healed, and she went home healed, at peace, and deeply loved.
In a crowd of many people, Jesus noticed one tired woman. He still notices each one of us today.
What we learn
Jesus sees the people others overlook, and we can come to Him with our hurts, just as we are.
Family prayer
Dear Jesus, thank You for noticing us and caring about our pain. Help us come to You with faith, and trust that You love us. Amen.
A verse to remember
Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.
